District Softball Champions

Pictured are the Girls' Softball Champions for our area.  They will be competing with other schools from our Region for that championship.  Way to go, girls.


CyberBullying Presentation

On Friday, June 12, Justice Minister Peter MacKay came to our school to do a presentation for our Grade 8 students and guests from other schools.  The topic was CyberBullying.  Accompanying Minister MacKay is MLA Tim Houston.  Two of our students, Leah McPherson and Camden Bonvie introduced and thanked Minister MacKay.


 


 


Visit to MacGregor's Farm

Ms. Shaw's Grade 2 class recently visited MacGregor's Farm where they got to see how a large farm operation works.  Thanks to the MacGregors for their hospitality!


Zumba

Ms Shaw's Grade 2 class recently participated in a Zumba session which was enjoyed by everyone.


Learning about Plants


 


Mrs. Mahar's grade 2/3 and Ms. MacKinnion's grade 3 students had a visit from Angie VanKessel of West River Greenhouse. As a connection to their science curriculum, students learned about the different parts and needs of plants and discussed many different types of plants. The students enjoyed having the opportunity to plant their own flower while learning how to care for it!
 


 


 


 

MORE Rally

    


Students from our school joined those from several other schools on Thursday, May 7 to attend the MORE Rally at NSCC to offer support to those participating.  Several of our older students ran from Westville to NSCC. 


 


 


 


  

Student Conference Day


On Monday, May 4, a Student Conference was held.  Guest speaker was Travis Price, co-founder of the Pink Shirt Anti-Bullying initiative.  Students enjoyed hearing his message about being accepting and not standing by while people are being bullied.

Tearmann Presentation

Mrs. Stacey is shown presenting the cheque to Stephanie Duggan from Tearmann House.  The money was raised from the We are Silent campaign.


WOW Reading Challenge


Grade 8 students Haley MacDonald and Brady Webb accept the banner from Cst. John Kennedy.  Our school received the Bronze in the Tartan Division.  Congratulations to our students for their reading accomplishments.  Way to go, Coyotes.

We Are Silent

On Thursday, April 30, students participated in the We Are Silent campaign and raised $835.40 for Tearmann House and Free the Children.
